POULSBO — The newest member of the Poulsbo Police Department is a 70-pound, four-legged pup. He is the first drug dog the city has had since it cut its K-9 unit to conserve money in 2011.

The 17-month-old Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd mix sniffs out heroin, meth and cocaine, while ignoring marijuana, said Nick Hoke, his handler.
And he won’t be a track and attack dog, so he will be expecting plenty of petting.
